How fees work

Here is how paying works at an endodontist's office, in the order most patients ask.

  • Insurance we work with

Dental plans treat endodontic care differently, and many pay a share of a root canal, with limits. We are in network with some dental PPO plans and out of network with others, and your plan decides what it pays. We are not enrolled with Medicaid or CHIP.

    • Dental PPO plans: in network with some

    • DHMO plans: ask us before you book

    • Medicare and Medicare Advantage: ask us what your plan covers

    • Medicaid and CHIP: not enrolled

  • If you pay yourself

If you pay yourself, you get a written estimate for the visit and for each step we expect, before treatment. Fees depend on the tooth, since a back tooth often has more canals than a front one. Financing is offered by third-party lenders. Approval and terms are set by the lender.

    • Pay at the visit

    • A written estimate first

    • Third-party financing, set by the lender

  • Receipts for reimbursement

After each visit we give you an itemized receipt with procedure codes. If we are out of network with your plan, you can send it to the plan to ask for reimbursement. The plan decides what it pays.

    • Itemized, every visit

    • Procedure codes on the receipt

  • An estimate in advance

You can ask for a written estimate before any treatment. If you are paying without insurance, we give you a written estimate in advance, when you schedule or whenever you ask. It lists the visit, each step we expect and the fee for each.

    • Written, before treatment

    • Each step and its fee

    • Take it home before you decide

  • Checking your benefits

When you give us your plan details, we check your dental benefits before your visit and tell you what we find. Your dentist's office may have the details too. The plan makes the final decision on what it pays.

    • We check, you hear before the visit

    • Your plan decides what it pays

  • What the first visit includes

A first visit is an examination, the images we need, a talk about what we see and your choices with the written estimate. If you decide to go ahead, we may treat the tooth that day if there is time, or book a second visit. Fill in your health history on our private patient portal, not by email or in the contact form.

Ask about the fee before you come

Our front desk can tell you how a visit is billed and give you a written estimate once we know what you need.
