Questions

What patients ask us

01Do you take my insurance?

We are in network with some dental PPO plans and out of network with others. Our fees page lists the types of plan and how each works. Call us with your plan details and we will check before your visit.

02What if I don't have insurance?

You pay at the visit, and you get a written estimate before treatment. Third-party financing is available; approval and terms are set by the lender.

03Do you accept Medicaid or CHIP?

We are not enrolled with Medicaid or CHIP. Our fees page says what we can do, and we are glad to help you find a nearby office that is enrolled.

04Will it hurt?

We numb the tooth with local anesthetic and check it before we start. Most people feel pressure, not pain, and we stop whenever you ask.

05Do I need X-rays?

Almost always. We take a small X-ray first and a 3D scan only if a flat image is not enough. Your endodontist explains why.

06What is a root canal?

It is treatment of the pulp inside a tooth: removing what is inflamed or infected, cleaning the canals and sealing them. It is meant to let you keep the tooth.

07Do you see children?

Our practice is mostly adults and teens. If a child has hurt a tooth, call us and tell us their age; we will say whether we are the right office.

08What counts as a dental emergency?

A knocked-out tooth, swelling that is spreading, a broken tooth or a toothache that won't let up. Our urgent-care page lists what to do first and when to call 911.

09Do you offer sedation?

We use local anesthetic to numb the tooth. We don't offer IV or oral sedation. If you are very anxious, tell us when you call, and we will talk it through.

10Can I get a written estimate before treatment?

Yes. We give it to you before any treatment, and you can take it home before you decide.

11Can someone here speak my language?

Tell us which language you prefer when you book. We will tell you honestly who on the team can help and what else we can arrange.

12How do I change or cancel a visit?

Call or text us as early as you can. A short notice lets us offer your time to someone in pain.
